We all get alerts that the smoke detector is in need of fresh batteries, or that the oil needs changing in the car. Seldom do we get alerts to rotate and/or flip your mattress, however, doing so will extend the life of your mattress significantly and increase the probability of a great nights rest!

You see, all mattresses begin to deteriorate at some level from the first nights sleep. Most slimy mattress salesman will tell you the most expensive in the mattress doesn't and you have nothing to worry about. We are telling you that ALL mattresses change over time. Even the best latex on the market will eventually feel different from the first day you bought it, albeit that will be many years down the road, but it still can happen. The best thing you can do for your mattress and protect your investment is to rotate on a regular schedule.

We always recommend the customers to rotate about every 2-3 weeks the first 3 months of ownership. From 3-12 months every 3 months of will be great. That will help ensure the most equal break in you could possible have. After the first year, every 6 months tends to be a good number for everyone to remember. You see, if you never rotate and/or flip your mattress, after a couple of years (depending on usage) your body will have worn down a small section of the mattress that you actually use every night. We tend to have a sleep routine when we lay down at night and get in that one position that makes us comfortable to a deep sleep, we seldom move to different parts of the bed. So, when that happens that means you are typically using a 1/4 of the bed each night, after a while the foams have compressed just in that 1/4 while the rest of the bed is as fresh as the day you bought it.

The weakest part of any mattress on the market tends to be the foam construction, or the plush layer. The air gap in the foams is where the compression takes place and reduces the original profile of the mattress. It's rarely the coil/spring units that give way to your body.

Rotating the mattress is typically very easy and quick to do and provides you with great, refreshing nights of rest. Below is an easy chart follow. Just remember to move the side tables away from the bed and protect your valuables. If you aren't physically able to perform a proper flip and/or rotation, we'll be glad to come do it for you and give a full mattress inspection to reassure your rest. Just a side note, if your mattress has extreme sagging or body impressions, turning or flipping will not solve it the mattress has officially failed and not providing the proper support you need. It is best to reinvest in a new mattress and start fresh.
