How to Make Your Bedroom Feel Like a Luxurious Hotel

There's a certain kind of serenity that can only be felt in a top-notch hotel room. Minimal decor, crisp white sheets, and a neutral color scheme all play a crucial role in morphing travel—something that's generally stressful—into an actual vacation.

Odds are, your bedroom at home—back in the real world—doesn't feel nearly as calm. But with the right tweaks, you can make your own space feel worthy of a staycation. Read on for eight ways to recreate the hotel vibe.

Here are a few things you can do to transform your bedroom into a luxurious staycation every night:

1. Invest in quality sheets.
There isn't a hotel that prides itself on quality and attention to detail that doesn't have high quality sheets. Sheets can really seal the deal on any bedroom makeover and we wanted to state it first. High thread counts might feel good, but can be less durable. To low of a thread count can be super scratchy. The types of material used can help with breathability as well. We are partial to true cotton sheets because of the durability and breathability of them. Also, they are the classic bed feel that we have known and loved all of these years. Whatever is the most comfortable to you and fits your requirements should be just fine. Spend a little bit of your budget on sheets because everything can look pretty, but if it doesn't feel comfortable then it is all for not.

2. Upgrade your mattress.
Standard hotels really get bottom of the barrel, firm innerspring mattresses. Luxurious hotels invest in sleep. They typically get mattresses with individually wrapped pocketed coils for the ultimate comfort. They also tend to get more of premium foams like latex included in their mattress. The right materials can give you the super plush feel, while be supportive. Find a mattress that holds you up, but allows you to relax. You should wake up feeling better than when you went to bed and your mattress is 100% responsible for that.

3. Pillow talk.
Your mattress is only half the battle, your pillow is extremely important as well. Find a quality pillow that holds your head up properly while giving you the cloud like feeling. We are always partial to latex pillows, just because they last forever and never lose their shape. They allow for a lot of airflow and you can choose multiple different comfort and size ranges.

4. Comfort in the Comforter!
We all love the luxurious hotel beds that have a plush comforter. Find a high quality white goose down comforter that can transform the look of your bed to feel and look like a cloud. It gives you the right amount of cuddle material and when you aren't using it, it looks just like that favorite vacation spot you and your spouse visited a long time ago.

5. Night Caps.
If you are into adult beverages, create a space in your room that functions as a mini bar. Every luxurious hotel room has a space for a night cap or just the look of it. If you aren't into adult beverages, substitute the spirits for waters and other liquids. The look and functionality is wonderful and best of all you won't incur additional charges on your credit card!

6. Breakfast in Bed Serveware.
There are times where we all just want to wake up slowly in our rooms, especially on the weekends. Create an area that allows for that. Whether it is a single cup coffee maker with a couple of K-Cups or a couple prepackaged breakfast bars laid out, you'll be able to treat yourself with little to no effort. This is especially handy if you have little ones that are sleeping in and you don't want to disturb them!

7. Invest in a really nice robe!
Admit it, every time we are in a nice hotel, we always opt for wearing the robe they provide. It's a way to mentally and physically transform into vacay mode almost instantaneously like Superman stepping into the phone booth. Why not have that next to your bed every day? It is a cheap and enjoyable way to keep you in a chipper mood. No one can be too upset in a robe, right? Go ahead and pick up a couple nice wooden hangers to really set the tone and feel like you are being pampered each day!

8. Speaking of pampering, pick up a silk sleep mask.
It is a sure fire way to get the deepest sleep you can get. Every expensive hotel has these readily available because they are the epitome of luxury and relaxation. This is also especially handy on the stormy nights or on the bright Saturday mornings. They even make mask infused with some kind of relaxation scent with essential oils, which is icing on the cake.
